We invite you to familiarize yourself with the results of the Portage pilot project at the Obninsk Rehabilitation Center for children with severe and multiple developmental disorders!
From January 2022 to June 2022 inclusive, a team of specialists was created at the Center and a pilot project of working with children using the Portage method was successfully carried out.
During their participation in the project, specialists who received a certificate at the basic seminar on the Portage method in Moscow in 2022 were able to master the application of a unique method of work, accompanied by a supervisor from Moscow.
The project involved children with severe and multiple developmental disorders in the city of Obninsk and the Kaluga region and their families.
Portage technique is an accurate, simple, universal technology
individual work with children, allowing to teach life
important skills of children with the most severe and multiple
developmental disorders (TMND).
This pedagogical model allows you to work in a variety of
conditions – with family children and orphans; with a different character
and the degree of health disorders, including those with severe and
multiple developmental disorders; with children of various ages.
Classes can be conducted by specialists of various specialties and students –
volunteers, they can be carried out at home, in educational
organizations, orphanages and other institutions.
Despite the simplicity of the method, such work significantly expands the capabilities of the early intervention system and allows you to achieve results even in cases that seem particularly difficult.
“Portage” has been used around the world since the 70s of the 20th century. In Russia
Since 2008, the methodology has been successfully applied by Russian
organization, and Portage methodological materials formed the basis of the system
early help. The Association of Specialists was registered in 2021
Portage in Russia.
25 Portage teams work in 6 regions of Russia with the support of the Diema’s Dream Charitable Foundation and have a unique experience in applying the methodology in working with children with severe psychophysical disorders.

Thanks to the activities, these children, previously considered “hopeless and
unpromising”, learned to wash and dress, drink and eat,
sit, stand and walk, collect constructors, draw and cut,
distinguish colors, recognize objects, count, look at books, and
mastered many other motor and cognitive skills, skills
from the self-service industry. Children develop and
development of speech, and active socialization – they began to communicate and play
with each other and with adults, to get acquainted with the world around, went out
from their chambers and began to walk in the street.

other professionals working with children with disabilities.
