On February 12 – 14, a seminar of the Diema’s Dream Fund on the Portage method was held in Kostroma. The Portage method is an accurate, simple, universal technology for individual work with children with disabilities, which has proven to be highly effective in meeting the individual development needs of children with disabilities.
35 specialists working with” special” children ” received new knowledge and skills. During the seminar, the specialists learned how to create an individual profile of a child in accordance with the basic principles of the “Portage” method, develop a special training program consisting of small sequential steps, teach parents to keep a diary of observations, form and consolidate skills, manage problem behavior, and others. Training with children with disabilities, based on the Portage principles, teach them basic life skills. The method has already been successfully applied in Russia in partner’s ophanages of the Diema’s Dream Fund:
