We have recently acquired 17 powerful laptops and 4 large-diagonal monitors using a grant allocated to us for this purpose by the Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation.
With their help, we will be able to provide managers and specialists of the Portage teams, as well as employees of the Diema’s Dream Foundation with high-quality and effective means for work. Laptops will enable portage workers to better cope with the tasks of developing children’s skills and in the future to take part in the general on-line conference of Portage specialists, which we are planning to hold.
It should be noted that the documentation for the Portage projects is very diverse and contains a lot of children activities data in text and tabular formats. And we are glad that now specialists will be able to open and load the necessary documents and tables much faster and process them faster!
Qualified volunteers discovered by ProCharity platform have installed the base Microsoft licensed hardware package and additional free software packages on the acquired computers. Volunteers – father Yuri and son Mikhail – worked remotely from Kursk. They did a great job in their own time. For us, this is a new experience of cooperation with regional volunteers. We were glad to buy it, as well as to make sure that for those wishing to help – distances are not an obstacle. Preparing computers, downloading and installing software packages took more than one day and required the active participation of the director of our foundation.
But the result was worth it: computers delight with colorful screens, power and performance and are waiting to be sent to the regions.
It may be added that some of the new equipment, including laptops and monitors, will remain in the office – they were purchased for the employees of our foundation. We used to work on good, but not new computers, have been donated to us by corporate partners and private donors. Unfortunately, they were already struggling to cope with their tasks. Now we will be able to work each in its own direction much more efficiently thanks to more efficient technology.
We hope that soon we will inform you about the transfer of computers into the hands of Portage specialists in different regions.
