The classes of the “Canis-therapy” project have started

Diema's Dream Charitable Foundation > News > The classes of the “Canis-therapy” project have started

September 9, 2020 2:38 pm

elena Wednesday September 9th, 2020 News

The “Canis-therapy” began at the center for Assistance to Family Education «Doverie» (Trust) after a long break on September 9.  It’s carried out within the framework of the «Canis-therapy» project of our foundation. The first classes will take place today and will be held 3 times a month.

Both the teachers and the children of the Center missed the tailed therapists and their trainers and looked forward to the resumption of classes.  Recently official permission to visit the center to continue the project was obtained.  Classes are conducted by wonderful “canis -therapy” specialists Tatyana Lyubimova and Veronika Khmyzova. Their work with children with severe developmental disabilities is paid for by our foundation.

Tatyana Lvovna has been cooperating with the Diema’s Dream Fund for 15 years.  At first she helped us with the rehabilitation of children from Orphanage No. 8. Later this place became the Resource Center for helping people with mental disabilities “Vera. Nadezhda. Lubov»( Faith. Hope. Love). It also help with the rehabilitation of the wards of our own center for social habilitation.  Now the “Сanis-therapy” trainers Tatiana and Veronika with their retrievers-therapists are working with the pupils of the ”Doverie” Center.

The pupils of the Center love all tailed “doctors” and admire their excellent training and friendliness.

“All children react differently to dogs and to canis therapists, that’s understandable because all children are unique. They all need different times to get used to a new type of activity.  However almost all children get used to dogs and begin to relax since “canis-therapy”. This therapy helps to reduce muscle spasticity and improve coordination of movements” the  administration of the Center writes about “canis-therapy” sessions on their website.

“Canis-therapy” is a method of rehabilitation and habilitation of people with the help of specially trained dogs.  This method contributes to the restoration or formation of lost, unformed or pathologically formed functions.  It is interesting that the dogs participating in the project have been trained according to a special program for several years!

You can find out about the essence of the “canis-therapy” project and its results as well as support it with any convenient donation amount here.

Thank you for your trust to everyone who helps with us!
