| We have had great success recently since two children from Elatma`s orphanage (Ryazan region.) – Andrew and Dasha – were able to pass another course of treatment and rehabilitation at the Federal Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise in Moscow.
Each child was given an individual treatment program. Looking back, Andrew’s last hospital visit resulted in him having surgery on both of his legs, as a result helping to unfurl and straighten out his feet, yet he still had to remain in a cast for a few months. Now, he has removed the corrective casts on his legs and has received also an orthopaedic device. Andrew has received courses in magnetic therapy, vacuum massages and acupuncture. In regards to Dasha, she has also removed her moulds and now uses a new device, due to her previous orthopaedic machine being too old and small for her since she has grown. She also underwent a course of exercise therapy and mechanotherapy. The Foundation organizes this treatment with the focus of verticalization (straightening of the spinal cord and body in general), which we have carried out in Elatma since 2008. With the participation of the head of children’s orthopaedic department FBMSE, professor Pozharischenskogo KE and separating medical, Ph.D. Mikhailova NI, they have supervised the children all of these years and have actively encouraged them to take such courses on a regular basis, ranging from 2-3 times per year – this is very effective in improving their health and improves the results of their verticalization, which is carried out every day in the children’s home. Getting such comprehensive treatment is not only something that Elatma struggles to receive, but also in the general region itself it is virtually impossible, since there are no necessary facilities or specialists. However, this treatment is now possible to go through thanks to reaching our budget goal and due to establishment giving us a method of transportation for the children to get to the hospital and back! And yet – the children like to be treated at FBMSE. Of course, like all children, they do not like doctors in general and if you ask them whether they want to go to the doctor – the answer is always negative. But if you tell them, “And you will go to Moscow” – you can suddenly hear a difference in the tone of the voices, as they all reply with an excited : “Yes!” The positive mood of children in hospital is obvious – they like to be there as it gives them an opportunity to communicate and to meet new children and adults. Children there are always in a pleasant mood, smiling and laughing a lot, because for them, going beyond the orphanage is a great adventure essentially! We saw this is in Dasha for example, who generally surprised us all. At the orphanage she is always tearful and struggles to connect with other people, yet in the hospital she began to react positively to strangers and wasn’t as afraid, with even blessing us with songs and her smiles. We sincerely thank all the staff of children’s orthopedic department FBMSE for their sensitivity and professionalism! And a huge thanks to Maria Aglushevich and all our benefactors – with your help, the children can continue to grow, develop and live life to the fullest!
